Good Morning

Thanks for the picture Andy. I guess that almost makes
you famous. HaHa I took the liberty of resizing the picture
so we could view it without scrolling all over the place. Why
is it that the Colonel has so many more ribbons on his chest
than you? Does it have something to do with his Commands
or is there just more opportunity as an officer to earn another
ribbon?

As I said before Dave. Anytime you are ready for a visit to
Hotlanta just give me a shout. The spare room is always
available if you care to stay with friends. And that goes for
any of you other guys too. Denise would love to take you out
and give you a taste of whatis available here in the hottest spot
in all of the southeast U.S.

Congrats on the G'baby Woody !!!! WooWoo!! Have you started
shopping for walkers yet. For you I mean, not the baby. Being
a grandfather and all.

George says he is liking it living up in the woods of Massachusetts.
People are so layed back and helpful of one another. He stopped off
at someones house to pick up some eggs cause they had a sign out on
the road. He says he got up to the porch of the house and there was
one of those small refridgerators with a sign that says, 'Eggs inside,
take what you want and leave the money. ' There was a small bowl on
top of the fridge with cash laying in it. It is refreshing to know there are
still places you can go where people still trust others to do what is right.
Put that same situation in downtown Atlanta or L.A. and it would all be
gone in short order. The eggs, the cash and the refridgerator too. Anyway,
george is still trying to work something out to get back online. He says he
might have to settle for 'dial-up'.

Howdy

Dave it was great talking to you also. I used that whats cracking line on my fifteen year old son, he looked at me like I was on crack, so much for dad trying to be hip. I think I mentioned that my cuz lives in San Diego so when I go for a visit I'd love to come up and say howdy. All is well I'm going up to Olympia Wa. this weekend to see the grand baby, he's so damn cute, probably gets that from me! As allways I remain your brother and fellow jarhead.

Good to talk to you and George as well Woody.

Thanks!!!

Thanks to all of you for the well wishes. It is totally amazing to be a grandfather, not that being a dad is'nt the greatast feeling also. Andy it's OK that you don't remember me after all I was only a lowly 81. As far as being a liberal I like to think of my self as more in the middle, not that I'm a fence rider I just like to see all of the picture. As far as being in a red state I live in lovely Oregon and I think we were blue, not that colors on a map have anything to do with reality. Ron get back here as soon as possible I miss your lively commentary. AS allways I remain your brother and fellow jarhead.

Hey Dale!!!

Good to see you posting. I hope all are doing well and having productive weeks. The Captain exam is over and though the results have not been posted it does not look good for the home team. My lack of police budgetary experience kinda hampered me but at least I know what I need to work on. Maybe Professor "Big Dow" can school me on the finer points of finance...:)
Anyway thanks to all that sent their support and to Sulli,,,,, Give me a call Bro. I need some more ideas to make this thing an affair to remember for all who show up. 310-594-5146. You too Sgt. Major!!!!!!! By the way Dale, I'd love to come down there and check out some sites. I plan on retiring somewhere other than LA. Too expensive, smoggy, violent, and hundreds of other adjectives. Also I hope the boys are doing great. How's Trevor doing in baseball this year. He's in high school now isn't he?

George is Down

I talked to George yesterday and he asked me to convey
the following to you whom blog with him. He just relocated
up to the hills and trees about thirty miles from where he was.
There of coourse isn't any cable up there so it might be a little
while before he can figure out what it is going to take to get his
service up and working. Satellite feed probably. So unless
someone else gets a hankering to post here, there for sure
isn't going to be as much to look at till George is back.

All is quiet on the Georgia front. Come on down some weekend
Andy and I'll show ya around the capitol of Georgia.

Dave, Sully says he is in if you need some help getting ready for '08'.
You still interested in a condo in Atlanta? Come on over for a weekend
visit and Denise can show ya what is available. See her sight @

I had a great time in Boston and NY. Prior to departing, my wife and I got to spend a few hours with "Big Dough" and his family at the beach. Bill Weidow is doing well, and it was great to have the chance for a visit.

I did not get to see anybody in Boston due to my heavy schedule. But, I did get to have lunch with Otto and his great looking daughter in NY. Once we pulled in to NY on the USS JFK, the CO and I stayed in the Hilton, and both of our wives flew in. We had at least 2 socials every day and night, and all the Marines were involved in Parades, and doing quick TV spots on all the morning TV shows. I even had the chance to tour and meet several of the FOX news crew in their studio. The CO and I posed with our arms around Julliette from the Fox and Friends weekend morning show. For a die hard conservative like myself, meeting folks from FOX was the best part of the trip.

My wife and I did manage to squeeze in one night ride through Central Park on a horse drawn carriage (Im good to go for many months in the romantic category). Getting up early every morning and running through the park was great, and following up with a bagel from the street vendors completed my mornings. It sure beat running in circles for 45 minutes in the hangar bay of the carrier.

I hope you are now a Capt, Dave. Im sure you have worked hard, and it is a well deserved promotion.

Sounds like you had a fun time in Florida Dale. I know the feeling of how tiring it is keeping up with youngsters in a amusement park. Plus, I will be 48 next week. It may be even harder trying to keep up with the young Marines when we deploy next year.

George - Sorry we could not hook up in Boston, but maybe later this year we could all meet in a neutral site.

Woody - I do not really remember you, but good luck in being a "liberal".........lol. That is a rare breed here in a "red state".

Andy

I'M BAAACK

Hey guys,

I'm just back from Florida this week. We spent all of last
week running around Orlando giving Mickey Mouse all of
our money. Who ever decided that running around 6-9 hrs
a day on top of hot asphalt in 90 degree weather, while dropping
$45 to get four burgers and a coke, is a great summer vacation?

Actually, we did have a good time andwe have to go back sometime
to use the rest of the days on those outrageously expensive park hopper
passes that we bought. Next time, the boys are on their own while Denise
and I enjoy at a more leisure pace. I may still think like a young stud buck
at 45 yrs old but trying to keep up with two young teenage boys can be tiring.

Congrats on the grandbaby, Woody!! Isn't it funny now that we are all at the
age that we could potentially be grandparents, we realize you really don't
have to be very old to be one. 40 something is only old when you're 20 something
and don't know any better.

And to think that it might possibly be Capt Dave when we meet again. WOW! Good
luck! And if there is always next time if you don't make it thru this one.

Gotta run. Semper Fi

GRANDPA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

On June 6 05 10:34pm Caleb William Burrows made yours truly a grandfather for the first time. I can't express my joy and amazement. I know the biology behind childbirth but I can't get over the feeling that maybe someone else has a hand in this thing we call life. Don't worry I'm not going to go all out evangelical or anything, it just seems like a small miricale to me. I wish you all well and as allways I remain your brother and fellow jarhead.

A few ?S

Well howdy folks hope you all had a good holiday, Dave good luck on the Captain thing I'm sure you would make a wonderful "Skipper"!

I was wondering if any of you had an opinion on the Minute man project going on in the west out here. I can't understand why "W" and a lot of our leaders don't want to back this. It would seem to me that any American has the right to protect their home"country". Could it be that corporate amer. Wants to keep cheap labor, and that through political contributions our leaders want to keep them happy. If you have read anything I've posted over the last year you know I'm a fairly "liberal" kind of guy, but on this issue it has nothing to do with politics. After Sept. 11 I would have thought our leaders would take every precaution, but like I said before it seems as if money may be more important than safety. I know some people would quote the plaque on the statue of liberty. At the risk of sounding like an isolationist I'm not so sure we need the worlds retched, and poor. Granted in the 1880's we needed to populate this country and build,
but now I think we might have our fill. If you wanted to become a citizen of the land down under a rather progressive country like ours you have to prove you have skills that you can contribute to that society. Anyway since I titled this post in the plural.
Paper or plastic? I remain as allways your brother and fellow jarhead.

P.S. I'm still waiting to claim the title Grandpa. Any day now
