RETIRED

Greetings to all. Its been well over a year since my last post.
I finally decided to put the old boots in the closet for the final time, and I retired
on 7 Aug. By the time I'm finished with terminal leave, I will have served 28
years, and 11 months.

We are having a big house built here in Jacksonville, and we plan
on staying here for at least 8 more years. I'm looking at getting a job on
Base at the same place "Big Dow" works. His family and mine spend almost
every weekend together. It is great to have a friend in the area from my
first unit in the Corps.

My wife retired after 23 years in the USN last year, and now works as a Federal
Investigator doing background checks for security clearances. My oldest son is a Freshman
in college, and 2nd son is a Senior in HS, and my daughter just started HS.

I look forward to taking a month or two off, then back to the daily grind, and
starting my new life as a civilian.

I wont be a stranger on this site, and hope to see many postings from the old gang.

I'm BAAAAACK !!!!

Wow, it has been a long time since anyone has been here. Just heard
from George and figured I would give ya'll a shout out and say Hey.

Dave what happened last month. I was really looking forward to that
breakfast you were gonna buy. Or was I supposed to pay? Anyway
I hope you had a good visit and enjoyed your brief stay round 'Hotlanta'

Trevor headed off to college ealier this month. He is a Fourth Class
Cadet at The Citadel. He is going on a Army ROTC scholarship. I
know, I can't hardly stand it that he is going to have to wear Army
green instead on Marine Blue but $20k a year is a lot of money to
pass up because you would prefer to call your son a Marine instead
of a soldier. He is majoring in Civil Engineering. We have heard that
the civil program at the Citadel is often just a Pre-Business major.
That is yet to be seen.

We went up last Saturday and spent the day with him. Mom really
wanted to see her son. He was doing super good and said 'Hell Week"
wasn't near as bad as he expected. I guess he must have thougth he
was going to Marine Boot Camp or something. That's about the only
thing that is still tough. The libs have softened up just about anything
else in our society that even remotely resembles hard intense struggle.

Anyway let me get of my soapbox and say Hello, welcome to 2007,
yeah I know I'm a little late with that, and Happy Birthday to me.
