Holy Smoke Batman, how long has it been since I've
been here? I was reading back through some of the
latest post and saw one from Nelson crying about how
fast time goes by. Just be prepared guys, it never
slows down. Faster and faster and f_st_r and f__t_r
See what I mean.

Dave, sorry about the lack of participation on the
arrangement of the next reunion. I hate to say it
but I think part of the problem is lack of interest.
The first one in Philly held so much interest due
to the unknown. We have now seen that Nelson
is still short as he has always been, Steve B still
has red hair and Bubba is still Bubba. (Would
somebody tell that guy to put his money away
and leave that bartender alone.) I am really
looking forward to coming out West, hopefully I
can afford to bring the family, but life is busy and
I like many others rarely take time to slow down
and take a minute out for something out of the
ordinary.

As to where should we have it. I think somewhere
around Capistrano would be a fine choice. Although
there are plenty of fine places between San Diego
and Pendleton right along the beach. LaJolla, Del Mar,
Encinitas. I think I would prefer that end of Pendleton
as opposed to the Los Angelos side. But I am biased
and used to spend most weekends away from base going
south instead if north. But there are plenty of hotels
anywhere along that stretch of the coast south of Pendleton
that would make a fine location. It offers easy access to the
San Diego airport, all the fine attractions; Tiajuana for example,
easy access to Pendleton, the fine tourist strip in downtown
Oceanside would be close by; that's a joke guys, and anything
else you can think of. The timing needs to be decided right away
cause people have to have time to plan. More than anything
I think you need to find some help, one person will do for your xo
and just start making some decisions. Then you just deciminate
the info out to the troops after the decisions are made. You can't
ask for a group consensus when you are arranging something for a
large group that is scattered across the country.

If you remember, Mik went down and found a hotel and got a group
rate that we could all call and register under, I talked to someone at
the hotel and found out about a couple of choices for dinner and then
I took orders from all, and that was really the jist of the organized part
of the whole thing. The first thing that needs to take place is an email
or snail mail to all those addresses that I gave you so you can start to
get a feel for who is planning on coming. If someone has moved since
the last and we don't know where to and they haven't kept in touch
with someone to let them know where they can be reached, shame on
them. They must not want to come to this one. Just start the ball
rolling and things will progress as they need to. Make sure and keep
Andy in the know on this one. Hopefully, he will be available and maybe
he can pull some strings and get us access to Pendleton.

Did you copy all that Sgt Bomer? Or did you make Lt for good
after that stint of Acting Lt? See if you can get McNally involved
a little. You and Steve and Dano ought to be able to put this thing
together and make it happen. Anything but performance is just an
excuse.

I just had the priviledge last Sunday of observing an officer
commissioning of the son of a friend. 2nd Lt. Daniel Whitt
has been in the reserves since shortly after high school and
just completed OCS up at Quantico a week ago. He waited
till he could get back home with friends and family and had
a simple swearing in and pinning ceremony at a chaple on the
Berry College campus where he went to school. He had made
the rank of Sgt while in the reserves and has already been
over to Iraq for service. It was amazing seeing a guy get his
commision as a boot Lt and he already had eight medals and
four ribbons pinned across his chest. OOHRAH!!

Merry Christmas & Semper Fi
