Dale's Teusday Evening Rant

Hello Jarheads,

Do you all realize it has already been two
months since the 'Party in Philly'? It was
a good time and I am looking forward to
the 'West Coast Rende'vous' in '08'. It
is up to Bomer, McNally, Sully and anyone
else out there on the Left Coast to put to-
gether a good one for us all. Tours of
Pendleton are in order, and of course we will
have an Official SgtMjr at this one so that ought
to carry some weight for special priveledges,
free meals at the chow hall maybe.

Anyway, I was chatting with George today and
noted how everyone sort of went running for the
hedges after the reunion. To be expected I guess.
After all everyone does have a life to live. Dave has
criminals to catch and Chuck has toilets to clean. Oh,
yeah, "Chuck doesn't do stoppages." He's an installation
kind of plumber. (I'm laughing Chuck, I'm laughing.) I didn't
know that plumbers specialize.

I just got back from another losing ball game. My son
Austin has been drafted on I think the sorriest ball team
that he has been on yet, and he has been on some pretty
bad ones. Oh well, it is a short fall season. Only three more
losses to go and we can start praying for a coach in the Spring
that actually knows something about coaching a ball team. I'm
a great sideline critic. (I don't give the coach a hard time cause
at least he is willing to attempt the effort.)

Well it is about my bedtime so I am going to shut down my rant.
You guys keep it swinging and take time every now and then
to tell us what's on your mind.

Hasta Luego (I don't know what that means but i though it sounded good)
I know I will.

At Arlington National Cemetery, soldiers who guard the Tomb of the Unknowns were given — for the first time ever — permission to abandon their posts and seek shelter, Superintendent John Metzler said. But they stood guard anyhow.

This WAS the MAN Rick Rescorla

I read that stuff obout Rick Rescorla, Ron. And I signed the petition.
You're right he was as bad as any Marine I ever heard of. He must have
just been confused the day he signed up with the
Army. As I was reading about his escapades in Vietnam I kept thinking I
was reading about a Recon Marine. One bad dude in his younger days
and oh so wise in his later yrs. He was a real hero and certainly deserves
that Presidential Citation. If you other guys haven't looked at any of the
info about this man you should avail yourself of the opportunity to read
about a real American hero and take the time to sign the online petition for the
recognition they are seeking to honor him with. OOHRAH or HOOYAH as they
would say in the Army.

Hope everyone has a good week!!!!

Please, someone tell me the post from the Capt, which is
posted below back in July is a joke. I do remember the Capt,
but the NCO's ran the company and provided all the
leadership we needed. Plus, unless he was prior enlisted
he could not of retired as a Capt, thus he is a fraud.

SgtMaj Crout (Andy to all except Hennecke)
1/9 is coming back to active duty. The BN will be reactivated as the Anti-terror BN for the USMC and will be based at Camp Lejeune.

Steve - Glad to hear you are OK. Its strange to hear one of us refer to someone as a "Young Punk". Just a few years ago............Are we all getting old - After all, I'm only a young 46...

I moved to my new house and assumed my new job 2 weeks ago. My wife will get promoted to Chief next week. We are now referred to as the E16 family.

George - Good posts, loved them all.

Dave: Kobe?????
Glad to hear you are OK Bro!
Hope you enjoy a speedy recovery.

I'm still here!
Happy birthday Dave.
Had a good scare, some punk kid in daddy's Mercedes ran a red
and T-Boned me @ about 60mph in my neighborhood. Not good for the neck
so soon after surgery. Got to ride in an bambalance with lights and sirens.
Luckily all the screws and plate are still securly fastened in the discs.
My truck wasn't so fortunate! Total loss, and the punk was an exempt driver,
so no insurance. Luckily I've got full coverage. Got some wicked bruises, cracked
rib and alot of aches. Never saw it coming.

Cambodians urged to eat more dogs
Reuters News Service

PHNOM PENH, Cambodia - Cambodians are being urged to eat more dogs as part of a crackdown on stray mutts wandering around the capital of the southeast Asian nation.

Although dogs, along with creepy-crawlies such as spiders, beetles and crickets, are found regularly on menus in deeply impoverished rural areas, eating them is frowned upon in the relative sophistication of Phnom Penh.

City governor Kep Chuktema says it is now time to draw up a special pooch policy to control the growing problem of pavement-fouling strays, and for city-dwellers to throw off their traditional snootiness towards dining on man's best friend.

"Come on, dog meat is so delicious," he was quoted as saying in Thursday's Cambodia Daily newspaper. "The Vietnamese and Koreans love to eat dog meat."

"(Cambodians) don't have wine, but poor people can enjoy their dog meat with palm juice wine," he said.

Hitherto, Phnom Penh dog lovers have had to keep their tastes under wraps by asking for "special" or "jogging cow" meat in restaurants.

Thanx George!!!!!!

Happy Birthday Dave

A Whale's Gas Bubble And Fecal Plume

Aug. 27, 2003 — For the first time, scientists have both witnessed and photographed a whale gas bubble, suggesting that flatulence is just as common for ocean mammals as it is for humans and many other terrestrial animals.

The picture is best described by Nick Gales, principal research scientist in the Applied Marine Mammal Ecology Group of the Australian Antarctic Division in Tasmania. Gales was leading an expedition of the Charolotte Pass between Marguerite Bay and Palmer Station, Antarctica, when the ship's captain, Joe Borkowski III, took the photo.

"The picture is of an Antarctic minke whale taken from the bow of a ship," Gales explained. "The white bits in the photo are pieces of ice-floe, the stream of pinky color behind the whale is a fecal plume — a.k.a. "poo" — the large circle in the water is indeed the physical eruption of the whale's flatulence."
